What public records show for food service in Akutan
Past emergency
Akutan and DR-1316
The most recent federal disaster on record for Aleutians East Borough, which includes Akutan is DR-1316, severe winter storms and avalanches, declared February 17, 2000. Aleutians East Borough has had 2 major disaster declarations since 2000. Storms like this cut power and water and close roads, which takes kitchens and walk-in coolers offline. For a school, care home, or shelter in Akutan, that means cooking outside the building in a self-contained kitchen trailer until the inspection is passed.
Major construction
Planning around construction in Akutan
FEMA's Public Assistance records list no large road, water, or utility repair for Aleutians East Borough since 2016. When construction near a hospital, school, or care home in Akutan cuts utilities or closes a kitchen in phases, a facility could lease a mobile kitchen trailer and a dishwashing trailer for the length of the work.
Major renovation
Kitchen renovations in Akutan
Remodeling a commercial kitchen in Akutan does not have to stop meal service: a kitchen trailer and a refrigerated trailer can run beside the building for the length of the job.
Emergency equipment access
Getting equipment to Akutan
Alaska is in FEMA Region 10, which coordinates federal disaster support with the state's emergency management agency; locally, Aleutians East Borough emergency management leads response. Those public operations are separate from our rental deliveries. Projects in Alaska are outside our Virginia lead market and are quoted case by case, with delivery distance and timing set out in the quote. Equipment for Akutan would travel AK-1 and local routes, as it would for nearby Unalaska and False Pass. We confirm the route and site access with you before dispatch.

Renovation plan: an assisted living community's kitchen in Akutan
A worked example of how we would plan temporary food service here, using Akutan's own public records and our current price list. It describes what a facility like this could do, not a job we have done.
1. Situation
A 2-month project at an assisted living community's kitchen in Akutan, upgrading the electrical service and gas lines that feed the kitchen, would leave the building without a usable kitchen from the first day of demolition.2. Trailer setup
A 24ft Mobile Kitchen, and 12ft Refrigerated Trailer (Tier 1-4), placed beside the building so staff can keep cooking, washing, and storing food on site.3. Site and delivery
Equipment would travel the AK-1 corridor, with the final route and gate access confirmed with the facility before dispatch. Plan on roughly 5 hours from parking to cooking for the kitchen, about 1 hour for cold storage, and 4–6 hours more if a ramp is needed instead of stairs.4. Timeline
Book while the renovation is being bid, so delivery lands the week before the kitchen closes. The 2-month lease can be extended by the month if the contractor's schedule slips.5. Estimated rental cost
24ft Mobile Kitchen $4,995 + 12ft Refrigerated Trailer (Tier 1-4) $1,895 = $6,890 per month on our starting price list, or about $13,780 for 2 months. Delivery, setup, and pickup are added in the quote. This is an estimate, not a quote.
