What public records show for food service in Cold Bay
Past emergency
FEMA's 2000 declaration for Aleutians East Borough
FEMA declared major disaster DR-1316, severe winter storms and avalanches, on February 17, 2000 for Aleutians East Borough, which includes Cold Bay, for an incident that began December 21, 1999. It is one of 2 major disaster declarations covering Aleutians East Borough since 2000. Storms like this cut power and water and close roads, which takes kitchens and walk-in coolers offline. An emergency kitchen trailer and a refrigerated trailer can keep meals going while a permanent kitchen is cleaned, inspected, and repaired.
Major construction
Planning around construction in Cold Bay
FEMA's Public Assistance records list no large road, water, or utility repair for Aleutians East Borough since 2016. Building work can still close a kitchen in Cold Bay for weeks, and a leased kitchen trailer keeps the facility's own staff cooking on site.
Major renovation
Kitchen renovations in Cold Bay
Remodeling a commercial kitchen in Cold Bay does not have to stop meal service: a kitchen trailer and a refrigerated trailer can run beside the building for the length of the job.
Emergency equipment access
Getting equipment to Cold Bay
Alaska is in FEMA Region 10, which coordinates federal disaster support with the state's emergency management agency; locally, Aleutians East Borough emergency management leads response. Those public operations are separate from our rental deliveries. Projects in Alaska are outside our Virginia lead market and are quoted case by case, with delivery distance and timing set out in the quote. Equipment for Cold Bay would travel AK-1 and local routes, as it would for nearby King Cove and Aleutians East Borough. We confirm the route and site access with you before dispatch.

Emergency plan: a hotel and conference center kitchen in Cold Bay
A worked example of how we would plan temporary food service here, using Cold Bay's own public records and our current price list. It describes what a facility like this could do, not a job we have done.
1. Situation
Suppose a hotel and conference center kitchen in Cold Bay loses power for several days in an event like the one behind FEMA's DR-1316 (severe winter storms and avalanches, declared February 17, 2000). Meals still have to go out while the kitchen is cleaned, inspected, and repaired.2. Trailer setup
A 24ft Mobile Kitchen, and 12ft Refrigerated Trailer (Tier 1-4), set on a level pad close to the facility's power and water connections.3. Site and delivery
Equipment would travel the AK-1 corridor, with the final route and gate access confirmed with the facility before dispatch. Plan on roughly 5 hours from parking to cooking for the kitchen, about 1 hour for cold storage, and 4–6 hours more if a ramp is needed instead of stairs.4. Timeline
Day 1: call the 24/7 line and send photos of the placement area. Next: delivery and setup once placement is confirmed. Then: cooking from the trailer while the kitchen is repaired, extended by the week if repairs run long.5. Estimated rental cost
24ft Mobile Kitchen $4,995 + 12ft Refrigerated Trailer (Tier 1-4) $1,895 = $6,890 per month on our starting price list for a one-month emergency rental. Delivery, setup, and pickup are added in the quote. This is an estimate, not a quote.
